Frequently Asked Questions

This section will evolve as more information is known. Please check back from time to time.

Who will be in charge when Dean Meaux leaves?

Beginning February 3, 2025, The Right Reverend John Harmon will assume the role of Dean Pro Tempore (Dean for the Time Being) at the Cathedral. Rather than search for an Interim Dean, the Bishop will carry that role until a new Dean is called. Specifically, this means he will greet the Vestry at their meetings; and lead worship at the Cathedral on occasion.

An interim Vicar, a part-time seasoned priest, will lead and support the Parish and staff in the day-to-day operations of the Cathedral.

When will an interim Vicar be called?

The vestry expects to call an interim Vicar in first week of January?

What is the timeline for calling a new Dean?

A search committee will be appointed by the vestry in February. They will have their own timeline and process which will be communicated to the parish separately. If you’re interested in serving on the search committee, please contact a member of the Vestry.

When is the ordination and seating, and how can I make arrangements to go?

Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 11 am

Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral in Kansas City, Missouri

Trinity Cathedral is planning to be present for Amy’s ordination as a bishop and her seating as the 9th Bishop of West Missouri. When is Dean Meaux's last Sunday?

February 2 will be Amy's last Sunday. Join us as we say farewell to the Very Rev. Amy Dafler Meaux and give thanks for her fruitful ministry as our 21st Dean and Rector. Amy will preside and preach at the 8:00 am and 10:30 am services, and she will officiate at Choral Evensong at 4:00 pm. Choral Evensong will be offered in her honor, and afterwards, we will gather for a festive reception in Morrison Hall. Everyone is especially encouraged to join us for Choral Evensong and the reception following.

The Bishop will be at the Cathedral on February 9th to preach, preside, and meet with the Parish.

Will there be a gift for Dean Meaux?

Trinity Cathedral is gifting Amy a set of vestments (chasuble, stole, and mitre) in thanksgiving for her ministry as our 21st Dean and Rector and in honor of her new ministry as 9th Bishop of West Missouri. If you would like to contribute, please donate online or write a check to Trinity Episcopal Cathedral with “Amy’s Gift” in the memo line.
