Joining the Church
Joining the Church
Membership at Trinity Cathedral is founded in Baptism. All persons who have received the Sacrament of Holy Baptism with water in the name of the Trinity, whether in this Church or in another Christian Church, and whose names have been recorded in the Parish Register, are members of Trinity Cathedral.
Sunday morning Inquirers' Classes are specifically designed to assist those (Episcopalians and non-Episcopalians) who are inquiring about membership at Trinity. A member of the clergy will lead this 4-week course in a relaxed, conversational setting.
While our intent is for these classes to be the most succinct way of learning about life and ministry at Trinity, there are many other ways to inquire. The most simple being the invitation Jesus extended to his inquirers: “Come and see.” Please know that you are welcome to join us in all our worship and work as Trinity Cathedral.
Baptism
Baptisms are celebrated regularly at the Easter Vigil, Trinity Sunday, All Saints Sunday and the Feast of the Baptism of our Lord. Instruction for parents and godparents is offered prior to each regularly scheduled baptism in conjunction with the Christ Child Guild. Adults desiring Baptism are instructed individually.
Confirmation/Reception/Reaffirmation
Confirmation, reception, or reaffirmation is offered for baptized persons who are ready to make “a mature public affirmation of faith” and “a commitment to the responsibilities of their baptism” and to receive the laying on of hands by the Bishop.
Transfer
Persons desiring to transfer their membership to Trinity from another Episcopal church do so with the knowledge of the priests in charge of both parishes and by a Letter of Transfer. Please contact the Cathedral office for more information.
