Thanksgiving Mass with Brass
Thursday, November 28 at 10:30 am
This year’s annual Thanksgiving Eucharist at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral will feature a brass sextet and timpani playing festive arrangements of Boyle’s Thou O God art praised in Sion, the Gloria from Kodaly’s Missa Brevis, Karg-Elert’s Nun danket alle Gott, and popular Thanksgiving hymns. Music will also include Bach’s Nun danket alle Gott, BWV 657 and Maurice Greene’s Thou visitest the earth, featuring Trinity’s Taylor and Boody continuo organ.
Our preacher, Kevin Pranoto, is the Associate Pastor of Social Work at Second Baptist Church in Downtown Little Rock. As both a licensed social worker and ordained minister, he blends pastoral ministry and social work practice to help the church’s vulnerable neighbors. In 2024, Kevin led the planning and launch of Second Place Pantry, a new client-choice food pantry serving the Downtown community. Prior to moving to Arkansas in 2022, Kevin served as the Executive Director of Mission Oak Cliff in Dallas, TX, and has worked for the global denominational office of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship.
Kevin earned his Master of Divinity and Master of Social Work degrees from Baylor University where he concentrated his studies in “Church Social Work: Women and the Church” and is currently enrolled in the Doctor of Ministry program at Boston University where he is researching the intersection of Christian theology and social work practice. He is an adjunct lecturer for the Garland School of Social Work at Baylor University and also serves as the chair of their Board of Advocates. Other boards Kevin serves on include Baptist News Global, Central Seminary, and the Clergy Sexual Misconduct Task Force for the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. Kevin is married to his husband, Chris Carson, and they have three dogs together.

An Evening with Jennifer O’Brien

Jennifer O’Brien will share excerpts from the second edition of her award winning book “The Hospice Doctor’s Widow,” which came from the art journal she created as a form of self care during her late husband, Robert Lehmberg’s, 22-month illness. Now, Jennifer shares her story, wisdom, and experience to help people live, love, and serve others more fully by recognizing that: at the end of life comes death; family caregiving is both the hardest job and the greatest honor most of us will ever face; and love is greater than death.
Refreshments, Q&A session and booksigning will be included. Tickets are available through Eventbrite.
Seeking Sacred Stories Retreat

Join artist and theological seeker, Lisa Thorpe, in exploring the redacted and reduced voices of women from the Old Testament. We will re-discover Shekinah who guides the Israelites out of Egypt and beyond. We will re-imagine Na’amah of the Ark (Noah’s unnamed wife). And finally, we will re-define Eve in the garden. Come and enjoy a creative morning of discussion and discovery, meditation and movement, community and connection.

Trunk or Treat

Sunday, October 27 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
You might find something spooky on Spring Street on the 27th and you will definitely find enthusiastic folks handing out treats from decorated trunks. Costumes are MORE than encouraged. All children welcome to participate, no admission.
If you would like to host a trunk (our goal is 15-20), sign up through Emma Mitchell (emma@trinitylittlerock.org) by October 20! We are also taking candy donations - please bring to the office.

About Organist Jason Roberts:
Sought after as a recitalist, improviser and silent movie accompanist, Jason Roberts is a past winner of the the American Guild of Organists National Competition in Organ Improvisation. He has performed at venues such as Princeton University Chapel in New Jersey, Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, and Westminster Abbey in London.

The Koinonia Eucharist is family-friendly and provides a time for young people to experience the Eucharist up close. Children participate in every aspect of worship which takes about half an hour.

Join Bishop Harmon for a collaborative conversation, a gathering aimed at celebrating and growing the ministry of the Episcopal Church in Arkansas. Attendees will reflect on their experiences, share stories, and express their hopes for the future. We look forward to a meaningful exchange of ideas and a renewed sense of community that will strengthen our life together.
